Tip of the Week

Happy Tuesday, CQ Press!

With Earth Day being just around the corner (April 22), a lot of you are probably asking how you can support green initiatives at the office beyond just recycling, turning off lights, and reusing kitchen supplies.

GREEN TIP: Do you drive? You can also help the Environment and Aesthetics Committee by taking some of the plastic bags from the recycling bins to your neighborhood Safeway or Giant! These bins are found in both break rooms and the pantry and are overflowing with plastic bags that are just waiting to be recycled! Just grab a bunch when you remember and drop them off on your way home! (The recycling bins at the grocery stores are usually just inside the main set of doors.)

Sustainably yours,
Your friendly neighborhood Environment and Aesthetics Committee
Fun Fact: About 700 grocery bags can be made from one 15-year-old tree; an average supermarket uses 700 bags in under one hour.

Tip of the Week

Happy Monday, CQ Press!
Keeping in line with our kitchen-themed green tips, I offer you one of my favorite tips so far:
GREEN TIP: Minimize your waste by only using the materials you absolutely need. Instead of using a plastic stir in your coffee each morning (or worse, a spoon!), add your sugar and creamer to your cup before you add the coffee or hot water. The pouring of the liquid into the cup will naturally mix the ingredients together!
Sustainably yours,
Your friendly neighborhood Environment and Aesthetics Committee
Fun Fact: Cutting shower time by two minutes can conserve more than ten gallons of water.

Tip of the Week

Did you notice the new Seventh Generation dish soap in the kitchens this morning? Just another easy way that we can all be green in the office!
GREEN TIP: Bring your own mugs or dishware to use from home and eliminate the need for disposable serving items! Isn’t it more fun to look at a cute cheery coffee mug each morning than a boring old plastic cup? If you find that you need to use a disposable cup or plastic fork, at least rinse it off and use it more than once!
Sustainably yours,
Your friendly neighborhood Environment and Aesthetics Committee
Fun Fact: Every month Americans discard enough glass bottles and jars to fill a large skyscraper.
